There are too many legends about Manneken Pis to mention them all. That is why I will tell you something about the street where the statue stands, namely Rue de l’Etuve or also known as ‘badhuisstraat’ (hot bath street). Indeed, our ancestors came down here for a warm bath, and that was quite unusual as they were afraid of water, which they thought could cause all kinds of viral infections. But if they did go out and enjoyed a bath, they spared no expense and sometimes it ended with a visit to the ladies of the night who sometimes worked in the same bathhouse.
