It is only since the 19th century that Tourinnes, once nicknamed the Teutonic or the Flemish, owes its epithet of Grosse to the imposing square tower of its church. This church, majestically positioned on its hill, overlooks the entire valley. Built of sandstone, the church is equipped on the west side with an imposing refuge tower. Dating from the first half of the 13th century, it is constructed from Gobertange stones. The thickness of its walls varies from 1.6m to 1.8m.
