La Charca is een beschermd natuurgebied dat aanleunt bij de, eveneens beschermde, duinen van Maspalomas.
In feite bevindt dit meer zich bijna bij de monding van een droogstaande rivier. Tussen het meer en de zee is er nog een smal duinengebied. Wanneer de river, bij overvloedige regen, water zou bevatten, komt dit in het meer. Bij sterke storm komt er zeewater over het duinengebied , waardoor het water brak is.
Hier zijn steeds watervogels te zien, een verrekijker is nodig
