Vireux-Wallerand es un pintoresco municipio que ocupa un lugar privilegiado en el valle del Mosa. El municipio de Vireux-Wallerand se convirtió en francés hace algo más de tres siglos, concretamente en 1678, y anteriormente era tierra de Luxemburgo.Desde los Condes de Luxemburgo, reyes de Bohemia, los habitantes de Vireux-Wallerand se llamaron "Bohemios" y luego "Boïamons", de ahí el nombre que se da hoy a los habitantes de este municipio, es decir, "Les Bayamonts": Vireux-Wallerand cuenta con un patrimonio arquitectónico que merece la pena visitar: La iglesia de Saint-Georges, pero también el castillo situado a orillas del Mosa en un parque, y que data de 1714, y luego el castillo de Risdoux, que data del siglo XVIII y que ahora ha sido renovado por particulares en un hotel.
