Henri-Jules de Bourbon-Condé (1643-1709) voerde de laatste wensen van zijn vader Louis II de Bourbon-Condé uit en begon in 1687 met de bouw van de eerste parochiekerk in Chantilly naar een ontwerp van Jules Hardouin Mansart. De in 1691 voltooide kerk werd in maart 1692 ingewijd onder de titel "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption". Deze datum markeert de officiële oprichtingsakte van de stad Chantilly. Vanaf deze datum werden dopen, huwelijken en begrafenissen bijgehouden in de parochieregisters van de pastoor.
