Stifter af klosteret var den fra Hasselt kommende Jacobus van den Brouck, som i 1685 begyndte at undervise fattige børn i Riksingen. Omkring 1690 bosatte han sig som eremitter i udkanten af kommunen, så også børn fra Werm, Vrijhern og Sint-Huibrechts-Hern kunne blive undervist. I 1703 blev klosteret imidlertid ødelagt, da de franske tropper indtog Tongeren som led i den spanske arvefølgekrig.
