Alden Biesen is impressive. What you see is an immense fortified castle, the largest of its kind in Belgium, surrounded by a magnificent estate. The garden at the front is as geometric as a French garden can be. At the back lies an English garden, and there are orchards. The castle complex includes several corner towers, a farm, a hospital, an orangery, and a guest residence. Behind the entrance gate on the left, a café-restaurant is tucked away, with a particularly pleasant outdoor terrace. It’s delightful to sit there, and the dishes are quite good.
Dear compatriots, this is the cultural center of the Flemish Community. In practice, it serves as a meeting and accommodation center for colloquia and seminars. Thematic exhibitions are regularly organized.
