Tellin lå på et meget gunstigt sted på vejen fra Paris til Liège. Fra denne fjerne tid har byen på sin egen måde bevaret udseendet af den dynamiske landsby fra det 18. århundrede. Det skyldtes også dens beliggenhed på ruten, som postvognene fra Frankrig til Tyskland fulgte,
Den smukke kirke blev bygget mellem 1829 og 1832 af arkitekten Cauchet i neoklassisk stil og er viet til den hellige Lambert. Tårnet blev tilføjet i 1870.
I 1832 begyndte den gamle klokke smedje Causard-Slegers sin virksomhed.
