Livade - Istria - Croatia

Livade was awarded the title of ' world center of truffles'.

The Mirna River valley in Istria, especially Livade, is home to the famous Istrian truffle. This small town on the inner peninsula continues to attract more and more people, especially since Mr. Giancarlo Zigante found the largest known truffle in the world, which weighed 1,310 kg , and entered the Guinness Book of Records as the largest example ever. This remarkable event took place in November 1999 and earned Livade the title of the world center of truffles.

The finder now has his own restaurant, Zigante, and associated shop, best known for its truffle preparations and products.

Livade is also the end point of the most beautiful stage Parenzana Grožnjan - Livade along the old Parenzana railway line , today a very well-known cycling and walking path.
