Breendonklaan henviser til Fortet Breendonk: oprindeligt var fortet under Anden Verdenskrig hovedkvarter for den belgiske hær, men snart blev det brugt af den tyske Gestapo som en overgangslejr for modstandsfolk og jøder.
Fritz Vinckelaan (og hans kone) Seraphine Zoetestraat, Louis Vander Schaeghestraat, Henri Vanblaerestraat, Maurice Lagravièrestraat og Frans Provoostplein (se foto) er opkaldt efter modstandsfolk, der omkom under 2. Verdenskrig i koncentrationslejrene.
