Den Wesleyanske menighed i Cropredy blev grundlagt omkring 1822, men i de tidlige 1880'ere var den vokset ud af sit første kapel.
Et nyt kapel blev planlagt, og fundamentstenene blev lagt på påskemandag den 18. april 1881. Arkitekten var Edward Pincher fra West Bromwich, og kapellet med en siddepladskapacitet på 200 blev færdiggjort i august samme år. Byggeherren var Thomas Cherry fra Cropredy, overvåget af Caleb Mander fra Banbury. Åbningsgudstjenesten blev afholdt den 26. august 1881, hvor prædikenen blev forkyndt af Rev. F.J. Sharr fra London.
