Det er en station på intercity-ruten fra Dublin til Waterford. Den fik navnet MacDonagh den 10. april 1966 som en hyldest til Thomas MacDonagh, en af de henrettede ledere af påskeopstanden i 1916.
Den ligger på en kort afstikker fra den vigtigste jernbanelinje, cirka 4,5 km fra Lavistown Loop Line. Dette kræver, at togene forlader stationen i samme retning, som de kom ind. Dette betød, at lokomotivet skulle skubbes fra den ene ende af toget til den anden. I dag har brugen af IE 22000 Class jernbanekøretøjer elimineret behovet for denne procedure.
