De tre pagoder passerer 22 km fra Sangkhlaburi. De tre pagoder var tidligere tre stykker sten; deraf områdets navn 'De tre sten stakke'. Senere blev stenstakene dækket af chedi. Dette område var en grænsepassage, der blev brugt intensivt af thailandske og burmesiske hære siden det første burmesiske angreb på Ayutthaya i 1568/69 AD indtil krigen med de ni hærstyrker på tidspunktet for Kong Rama I (1785 AD). Det markerer også den ujævne Thailand-Myanmar grænse og er stedet for et lille blomstrende grænsemarked.
