Der 2019 neu gestaltete Platz vor dem Rathaus von Elsene ist eine Augenweide und genau das, was man in diesem stark bewohnten Stadtviertel braucht. Der Platz bietet Spielraum, Bäume, Blumen, Brunnen und Caféterrassen. Vom ehemaligen Malibran-Schlösschen aus behält der Bürgermeister ein Auge darauf. Dieses Schlösschen war ein Landhaus des Violinisten Charles-Auguste de Bériot und wurde 1833 erbaut. Er ließ sich dort mit seiner Freundin Maria Garcia Malibran, einer berühmten Sängerin, nieder. Nach dem Tod von Maria im Jahr 1836 wurde das Schlösschen 1849 von der Gemeinde Elsene gekauft, die es zum Rathaus machte.
