Gust Gils, 'Die innere Urbanisierung'
Neoklassizistisches Gebäude mit florentinischer Renaissance-Inspiration (von Stadtarchitekt Louis Roelandt) an der Stelle des alten Rekollektenklosters, an der Mündung von Leie und Ketelvaart. Die monumentale 'Salle des pas perdus' ging in dem verheerenden Brand von 1926 verloren. Innerhalb der Poesieroute ein Symbol für die Verteidigung der Opfer und Beschuldigten.
Gust Gils (1924-2002) flämischer Prosaautor, Dichter und bildender Künstler. Mitbegründer der avantgardistischen Zeitschrift Gard Sivik. Sein Werk ist gesellschaftskritisch, satirisch und grotesk. Eine Auswahl seiner Poesie in Mein pflichtvergessenes Werk (1994), seine kurzen Stücke 'Paraproza' veröffentlichte er in sieben Büchern. Dreijährlicher Preis der flämischen Gemeinschaft 1996. Plastische Gestaltung des Gedichts durch den belgischen Künstler Paul Van Gyseghem (1935).
