Die sehr alte Kathedrale San Ciriaco auf einem Hügel, mit weitem Blick über die Stadt und das Adriatisches Meer. Als Königin Christina von Schweden im Dezember 1655 Ancona besuchte, fiel viel Schnee. Christina war im bischöflichen Palast im Stadtzentrum untergebracht und hatte keine Lust, den beschwerlichen Weg nach oben zu nehmen. Dennoch wollte sie einige Reliquien aus der Kathedrale sehen: die Speerspitze, mit der Jesus ans Kreuz genagelt worden sein soll, und den angeblichen rechten Fuß der Heiligen Anna, der Mutter Mariens. Deshalb wurden die Reliquien für sie aus der Kathedrale gesammelt.
