Sint Pancratiuskerk, Kirchplatz 1 Mesch
Die Sint Pancratiuskerk ist einen Besuch wert. Die ältesten Teile, das Kirchenschiff mit den ersten drei Fenstern, stammen wahrscheinlich aus dem 9. oder 10. Jahrhundert. Davon zeugt das für die Niederlande einzigartige opus spicatum, das Fischgrätband (siehe Foto), in der Außenmauer. Die prächtige Sint Pancratiuskerk, gelegen am Pilgerweg und dem Pieterpad, ist eines der ältesten Steinbauten der Niederlande und die älteste Kirche von Limburg. Sint Pancratius ist einer der drei Eisheiligen. Die anderen beiden sind Sint Servaas und Sint Bonifatius. Zur Augustuskirmes war es üblich, die Reliquien von Sint Pancratius zu verehren. Er wurde vor allem um Hilfe bei Kinderkrankheiten, aber auch bei Gicht, Rheuma und Ekzemen angerufen.
