The Mengeder Heide Nature Reserve is located in the Dortmund district of Mengede in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located directly southeast of the motorway junction between the A2 and A45 motorways. To the south, it is bordered by the Emscher River and covers 15.35 hectares. On 19 June 1986, the nature reserve "Mengeder Heide" was designated by the Arnsberg district government by means of a temporary seizure. On 30 November 1990 it was laid down in the Dortmund-Nord Landscape Plan and on 2 September 2005 in the first amendment to the Landscape Plan.
