Una falsificación del autorretrato de Dürer se puede ver en el Museo Nacional Germánico de Núremberg.
La pintura fue prestada en 1799 por la ciudad de Núremberg a un pintor llamado Abraham Kuffner para que hiciera una copia. Kuffner la copió, pero devolvió la copia y retuvo el original, que ahora se encuentra en la Pinacoteca de Múnich.
