Walter Busch fundó en el año 1934 bajo el nombre de Walter Busch Sohn un "comercio por correspondencia de cuchillos de Solingen de alta calidad". En los años 50, la empresa se especializó en el envío de electrodomésticos y artículos para el hogar, principalmente afeitadoras eléctricas. En 1959, Walbusch incluyó camisas de Nyltest sin arrugas en su catálogo. Este fue el comienzo del cambio hacia el comercio textil. En 1963, siguió la camisa Walbusch con el cuello sin botón. Esta camisa, que fue registrada como patente en 1999 debido a su diseño específico del cuello, sigue siendo considerada como la marca distintiva de la casa.
