El Paso de las Tres Pagodas está a 22 km de Sangkhlaburi. Las tres pagodas eran anteriormente tres montones de piedras; de ahí el nombre del lugar 'Los tres montones de piedras'. Más tarde, los montones de piedras fueron cubiertos por chedis. Esta área fue un paso fronterizo utilizado intensivamente por los ejércitos tailandés y birmano desde el primer ataque birmano a Ayutthaya en 1568/69 d.C. hasta la guerra de las nueve fuerzas armadas en tiempos del Rey Rama I (1785 d.C.). También marca la escarpada frontera entre Tailandia y Myanmar y es el sitio de un pequeño próspero mercado fronterizo.
