Delft es una ciudad y un municipio de Holanda Meridional , a mitad de camino entre Róterdam y La Haya. Es primordialmente conocida por el centro de la ciudad, tradicionalmente neerlandés ; la cerámica de Delft , la Universidad Técnica de Delft y su asociación con la Familia Real.La ciudad existe desde el siglo XIII. Recibió su fuero el 15 de abril de 1246 de manos del conde Guillermo II. En 1536 gran parte de la ciudad fue destruida por un incendio.
