Tromsø es una ciudad y municipio de la provincia de Troms, Noruega. Con 72 681 habitantes en 2015,[1] es la capital y mayor ciudad de Troms y de la región de Nord-Norge, la séptima de Noruega y la segunda de Laponia, tras Múrmansk, en Rusia.
El municipio de Tromsø aglutina una gran cantidad de distritos fuera de los límites de la ciudad, y su territorio está integrado por una parte continental y numerosas islas, varias de ellas deshabitadas. Tromsø es una ciudad cosmopolita y un importante centro comercial y cultural en Noruega, con importantes festivales a lo largo de todo el año. Es sede de la Universidad de Tromsø, que atrae una población flotante de varios miles de estudiantes, lo que incrementa la población hasta una cifra de 75 000 personas en algunas épocas del año. Es también sede episcopal de la Iglesia de Noruega.
