Réaménagé en 2019, le parvis de la maison communale d’Ixelles est une merveille pour les yeux, et c’est précisément ce dont on a besoin dans ce quartier très animé. La place abrite des espaces de jeu, des arbres, des fleurs, des fontaines et des terrasses. Depuis l’ancien Pavillon Malibran, le bourgmestre garde un œil sur la ville. Ce pavillon construit en 1833 était la maison de campagne du violoniste Charles-Auguste de Bériot. Celui-ci s’y installe avec sa compagne Maria Garcia Malibran, une célèbre chanteuse. Après la mort de Maria en 1836, le château est acheté par la commune d’Ixelles en 1849 pour devenir la maison communale.
