La frontière selon le traité de Courtrai (1820) entre Wannehain et Esplechin
Le traité de Courtrai a été signé le 28 mars 1820 dans l'actuel Broelmuseum dans la ville belge de Courtrai. Avec ce traité, la frontière a été établie entre la France et le Royaume-Uni des Pays-Bas (sous Willem I). À quelques petites corrections près, cette frontière correspond encore à la frontière terrestre entre la Belgique et la France, ainsi qu'entre le Luxembourg et la France.
