Casa dello storico di Gand e fattore (= poeta-presidente) della camera dei rhetorici Maria T'Heeren, Marcus van Vaernewyck (1518-1569). Le sue opere più famose sono la Storia del Belgio (= Fiandre) e il suo resoconto da testimone oculare della tempesta delle immagini in Van de beroerlicke tijden in die Nederlanden en voornamelijk in Ghendt 1566-1568. Sulla facciata è presente dal 1880 il suo busto, sotto al quale si trova il suo motto "Laet vaeren nydt", sostenuto dalla coda di due delfini (simbolo di prestigio e combattività). Nel 17° secolo la casa era conosciuta come De bonte mantele.
