Opperzau si trova a nord-est nel comune di Windeck, direttamente vicino al fiume Sieg e vicino a un'area boschiva. Insieme all'Oppertsau della Renania-Palatinato, Opperzau forma un'area residenziale unita.
Un tratto lungo 200 metri delle strade statali 112 / 267, che separa Opperzau e Oppertsau, non rappresenta solo il confine comunale, ma è anche il confine statale tra la Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia e la Renania-Palatinato. Inoltre, la strada ha un nome proprio su ciascun lato: Siegstraße per gli Oppertsauer e Fürthener Straße per il lato di Opperzau.
