Plaça de Mina ha un eccezionale valore storico e artistico.
Si trova nell'ex giardino del Convento di San Francisco, fondato nel 1838 . Dapprima furono tracciati due viali alberati, poi nel 1861 i giardini interni con palco dell'orchestra. Nel 1897 fu nuovamente riformato. Ospita il Museo di Cadice , tra gli altri importanti palazzi di Cadice.
Ad un certo punto si decise di erigere una statua ormai perduta del generale Espoz y Mina , eroe della Guerra d'Indipendenza. Il nome del luogo deriva da questo generale.
Dopo il Parco Genovés, Plaça de Mina è considerata uno degli angoli più ricchi della città in termini di specie arboree.
