Het station Andernach is het verkeersknooppunt van de stad Andernach. Het heeft vier perronsporen, waarvan drie langer zijn dan 400 meter, evenals opstel- en goederensporen. Het ligt aan de linkeroever van de Rijn en is het eindpunt van de Eifelquerbahn. Naast het personenvervoer is er ook container- en goederenvervoer, dat wordt afgehandeld op het goederenstation dat zich oostelijk achter het station bevindt. Van daaruit leiden aansluitingssporen naar de Rijnhaven van Andernach en naar het bedrijf Rasselstein.
