De Lutherse Kerk werd in 1615 gebouwd op de plaats van het voormalige Witteheren klooster (Norbertijnen klooster, zie ook Frans Loenenhofje en Luthers hofje).
In de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw werd de kerk voorzien van een nieuwe voorgevel. Bijzonder zijn de preekstoel en de eikenhouten banken uit de tweede helft van de 17e eeuw en het eikenhouten doophek. In de kerk bevindt zich het uit de 19e eeuw stammende Ströbelorgel.
