Diese Fußgängerbrücke über die Hoenderlaan zum Park im Barneveldner Stadtteil Veller wird nach Bürgermeister Asje van Dijk benannt. Die Fußgängerbrücke symbolisiert Van Dijks verbindende Rolle, eine Brückenfunktion in der Barneveldner Gesellschaft.
Van Dijk war ab dem 8. Dezember 2011 Bürgermeister von Barneveld. Am 12. Juni 2020 kündigte er seinen Rücktritt als Bürgermeister von Barneveld an. Er trat am 1. Februar 2021 zurück und wurde zu diesem Datum von Jan Luteijn als kommissarischer Bürgermeister abgelöst.
