The Scheutbos Park is reminiscent of the rural panorama on the outskirts of Brussels. The park is located to the west of Molenbeek Saint Jean, at the edge of the Brussels Region. Today, it is a transition zone between the agglomeration with its skyscrapers and the Brabant countryside.
Today, the estate is divided into two well-defined sectors: a regional park of 6 hectares that was built between 1993 and 1995 and a semi-natural area that was classified in 1996.
The semi-natural Scheutbos Park extends over a hilly plateau that is intersected by two rivers (the Maalbeek and the Leibeek) and two local roads. You have a very beautiful view of the city from there.
The "Friends of Scheutbos" have conducted an inventory of the fauna and flora of the classified territory. They confirm the presence of more than 300 flowering plants, 87 varieties of mushrooms, 66 different trees and shrubs, 30 butterflies, almost 90 species of birds, and 120 insects. The smallest rodent in Europe, the dwarf mouse, lives in the rosary. Other mammals include: hares, field voles, field rats, and shrews.
