The Maenhoudthoeve was built in the mid-17th century, but an old beam in the ridge of the barn even bears the year 1256! The restoration of the monumental barn was completed in 2016. Only when you step inside do you feel the grandeur of this beautiful structure made of wood and stone, where warm light pours in. A white giant in a stunning green landscape. Writer Stijn Streuvels was immediately a fan when he passed by. On the north side of the farm's wagon house lies a remarkable dike. It was meant to protect the farm from artificial flooding from Ostend. The Maenhoudthoeve is a private residence and is not accessible except on special occasions!
