En la plaza del mercado de Eeklo se encuentra la estatua del Herbakker de Eeklo de Leo De Buysere, que hace referencia a la leyenda de Eeklo. Según la leyenda, podías ir a Eeklo para que te rehiceran la cabeza. Una imagen del rehacer se puede encontrar en la pared del centro cultural “De Herbakker”, y también en el museo local puedes encontrar una imagen. Sobre un pedestal de acero de 7 metros de altura se encuentra la escultura diseñada por el artista de Oostwinkel Leo De Buysere y fundida en bronce por Dirk De Graeve de Hansbeke. El gato no tiene nada que ver con la leyenda, pero una panadería sin gato era impensable.
