Dans 'Les Zwinduinen et -polders', il y avait beaucoup de champs de mines. En 1944, les occupants ont dispersé des mines terrestres sur tout l'aéroport, le rendant inutilisable. Le champ de mines a reçu le nom de code '114 Odette 712'. Environ 12 000 mines y étaient présentes. La plupart des champs de mines ont été déminés encore pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale par les troupes alliées, mais un certain nombre de mines restantes ont ensuite causé des accidents mortels.
