Marum er den mest nordøstlige del af det Store Skydeterræn (Brasschaat, Brecht og Wuustwezel) og har været militært område siden 1890. Længe en utilgængelig lokation for skydeøvelser, men siden 2010 som en sikker gåzone begrænset åbnet for offentligheden. Området ejes af Forsvarsministeriet og forvaltes af Natur- og Skovstyrelsen.
