Luxembourg City er hovedstaden i Storhertugdømmet Luxembourg, i den tilsvarende kommune og distrikt.
Luxembourg City blev grundlagt omkring år 963 med opførelsen af et slot over ruinerne af et gammelt romersk slot kaldet Lucilinburhuc. Det nye slot, ejet af Sigfried I, blev straks beskyttet med en første mur i 965. I 1050 blev en ny ydermur parallel med den forrige bygget for at beskytte den voksende by.
