Lienz train station is the most important train station in East Tyrol. It serves as an important stop on the Drautalbahn line. The station has existed since 1871 and was rebuilt between 1947 and 1950 after being severely damaged in 1944/45.
The Lienz train station was built in 1871 according to plans by Wilhelm von Flattich. Since Lienz station was the most important station on the connection between Villach and Franzensfeste, it was designed as a Class I station building.
