At the end of the 19th century, the project of a tramway linking Dijon to Beaune was born. The route chosen by the Hautes-Côtes was to allow the development of a very isolated region and to avoid the delicate passage through the vineyards between Gevrey-Chambertin and Beaune. Important works are necessary, in particular between Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis. They were interrupted several times because of the war.
