En el pueblecito de Courtil en las Ardenas, el fundador de la popular cerveza La Chouffe, Pierre Gobron, ha construido una microcervecería, junto con un restaurante. Aquí elabora su propia cerveza. Además, esta cervecería también se utiliza para nuevas pruebas de cervezas de la cervecería Duvel Moortgat.
La entonces Cervecería Lupulus vio la luz en 2004. Originalmente, la cervecería solo tenía como objetivo proveer de la cerveza necesaria a la bistró adyacente. En 2007, Lupulus Blond salió oficialmente al mercado, tanto en barril como en las características botellas de champán. La cervecería se fundó dentro de los muros de una impresionante granja de las Ardenas del siglo XIX, idóneamente situada en medio de la naturaleza y rodeada por un arrollo de agua pura y fresca.
El nombre de la cerveza proviene del nombre latino para el lúpulo: Humulus lupulus, que literalmente significa "pequeño lobo humilde".
