La chapelle est située à l'angle du legeweg et du Vivensteenweg.
La chapelle a été construite en 1954 (début des travaux le lundi de Pâques) sous l'impulsion du curé Van den Broucke. Le terrain de la chapelle a été donné par Alfons Viaene – Elodie De Sutter.
Le dimanche 15 mai 1954, la statue de la Vierge des Pauvres est bénie entre Vêpres et Louanges puis portée en procession jusqu'à la nouvelle chapelle de campagne.
