Qui è stata trovata anche la vecchia strada Limes, il confine dell'Impero Romano nei Paesi Bassi, lungo l'Oude Rijn. La Limesweg era la strada principale utilizzata dai romani per collegare i numerosi castella lungo il Limes. La strada partiva dall'attuale Germania fino a Katwijk lungo la sponda sinistra del Reno.
