Chinon is een gemeente in het Franse departement Indre-et-Loire en telt 8169 inwoners . De plaats maakt deel uit van het arrondissement Chinon. De gemeente is voorzien van een spoorwegstation.
De oppervlakte van Chinon bedraagt 39,0 km², de bevolkingsdichtheid is 209,5 inwoners per km². Tot de gemeente behoort sinds 1792 het gehucht Parilly. Chinon is bereikbaar per spoor en heeft een eindstation.
