Peer er en by i den belgiske provins Limburg. Byen har over 16.000 indbyggere. Peer er hovedbyen i valgkredsen Peer og tilhører den retslige kreds Houthalen-Helchteren. Navnet Peer blev første gang nævnt i Liber Aureus, hvor et dokument fra 725 muligvis er blevet afskrevet, hvor den hellige Willibrord opretter sit testamente. Peer nævnes der som Pedero. Senere stavemåder er Pirgus og Pyra. Dette stammer fra pirgus. Andre kilder angiver derefter, at navnet skulle komme fra Perre eller Parre, som betyder "indhegnet sted".
