An der Polderdijk, direkt gegenüber dem Hof "'t Meeuwenhof", steht ein auffälliger Gusseisenpfahl auf einem Sockel aus Backstein und Arduin mit der Inschrift “station geodesique 1853”.
Ein geodätisches Signal oder geodätischer Punkt ist ein fest bekanntes Punkt, von dem aus man beim Messen von Distanzen zur Kartierung einer bestimmten Region ausgeht.
Der eiserne Pfahl entlang der Polderdijk ist das geodätische Signal von Zandvoorde, das Teil eines geodätischen Netzes aus der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts ist, genauer gesagt eines Dreiecksnetzes, dessen Winkel gemessen wurden und dessen Maßstab durch die Vermessung von drei Basen in Belgien, nämlich Oostende, Lommel und Hamipré, bestimmt wurde.
