Poesele ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Ostflandern und ein Stadtteil von Deinze. Im Süden des Ortes fließt der Poekebeek. Eine alte Erwähnung von Poesele geht auf eine Urkunde aus dem Jahr 1121 zurück, in der es als Poksela genannt wird. Dieser Name ist eine Verschmelzung von Poka oder dem Poekebeek und sali, einem germanischen Wort für ein Bauernhaus mit einem Zimmer. Die Herrschaft von Poesele gehörte zunächst der Familie von Beveren, Burggrafen von Diksmuide. Von 1284 bis zum Ende des Ancien Régime fiel es unter die Herren von Nevele.
