Le Marum est la partie nord-est du Grand Champ de Tir (Brasschaat, Brecht et Wuustwezel) et est un domaine militaire depuis 1890. Pendant longtemps, c'était un site inaccessibile pour les exercices de tir, mais depuis 2010, il a été partiellement ouvert au public en tant que zone de promenade sécurisée. La région appartient au Ministère de la Défense et est gérée par l'Agence des Forêts et de la Nature.
