Nel XIII secolo sorgeva qui un castello che serviva come residenza estiva per gli abati dell'abbazia di San Bavone di Gand. Il principe vescovo ceco Ferdinand von Lobkowitz vi aggiunse alla fine del XVIII secolo scuderie, due arancere e una costosa collezione di piante esotiche. Charles Vuylsteke trasformò il castello in un'azienda orticola intorno al 1870, dando così inizio alla coltivazione di azalee e begonie a Lochristi. Il castello e il parco possono essere visitati solo in gruppo.
