Prioratet Sint-Maarten blev grundlagt af Willem van Sichem i 1408, efterfølgende blev det også brugt af universitetet som pædagogik. I 1477 sluttede samfundet sig til de regulære kanunnikker. Ejendommen omfattede et kloster, klostergang og gotisk kirke. Prioratet blev nedlagt i 1784 og blev derefter brugt som kaserne og militært hospital. I 1803 blev kirken og dele af klosterkomplekset revet ned. Hvad der var tilbage blev en kavaleri kaserne, som i sin tur blev nedbrudt i 1960 og gav plads til sociale højhuse.
