Henri-Jules de Bourbon-Condé (1643-1709) udførte sin far Louis II de Bourbon-Condés sidste vilje og begyndte i 1687 bygningen af den første sognkirke i Chantilly efter et design af Jules Hardouin Mansart. Kirken blev færdiggjort i 1691 og indviet i marts 1692 under navnet "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption" (Vor Frue af Himmelfarten). Denne dato betragtes som den officielle grundlæggelse af byen Chantilly. Fra dette tidspunkt blev der registreret dåb, vielser og begravelser i de af præsten drevne kirkebøger.
